Umueze Ogwa High School is located in Umueze Ogwa, within the Umueze/Abazu Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State. The school is strategically situated between the villages of Umudim, Umuduruzo, and Amiyi.

Founded in 1963 by Rev. Sr. Mary Coleman, the school was constructed by the Catholic community of Umueze Ogwa and handed over to the Catholic Mission in 1964. Initially named “Holy Rosary Girls College, Umueze Ogwa,” it was later changed to “Girls’ Secondary School, Umueze Ogwa.”

In the 2019/2020 academic year, the Owerri Archdiocesan Education Commission transformed the school into a co-educational institution, leading to its renaming as “Umueze Ogwa High School.” This change reflects the school’s commitment to inclusivity and modern educational practices while continuing to uphold its foundational values of unity, progress, and industry.
