Brief History of the School

Holy Ghost College, Owerri, is a prominent educational institution in Imo State, Nigeria. Established in 1949, the school is situated on Assumpta Avenue, adjacent to the Maria Assumpta Cathedral by the Control Post in Owerri.

The college operates as both a boarding and day school, catering to a diverse student body. Two principals oversee the institution’s leadership: Rev. Fr. Dr. Samuel Agu oversees the Senior Secondary School, while Rev. Fr. John Anumudu manages the Junior Secondary School.

The school’s motto, “Recta Sapere,” translates to “To Think Rightly,” reflecting its commitment to fostering critical thinking and moral integrity among its students. Over the years, Holy Ghost College has built a reputation for academic excellence and holistic development, contributing significantly to the educational landscape of Owerri and beyond.
